Who are Talksaferdating.com Ltd?

Talksaferdating.com Ltd is an award winning dating website company started in 2003. We offer a fast, fun, safer and above all, highly effective way to find a date, make new friends or meet the person of your dreams. Contacting and meeting other like minded people has never been so easy. With dating websites powered by Talksaferdating.com you've got ways to communicate discreetly with people you don't know. In fact more than any other dating site in the UK.

Once you've joined you'll need to complete a Profile (information about yourself, a self advertisement) for other members to view. This is very simple, doesn't go into great detail and takes about 5 minutes. You can add a Personal Statement about yourself and what you're looking for (in your words). You can add a photo to your profile, which is highly recommended because profiles with photos get up to 10 times more responses.

Once your profile has been approved by us you can search of our database using your specific criteria to find a match. Once you have found a match, communicating can be done in a number of different ways, each offering anonymity (i.e. without disclosing any personal details). You can choose between telephone messaging, online messaging, sms messaging or speaking directly by phone using our unique Personal Telephone Numbers.

Does online dating really work?

It's the fastest growing way to find a date, make new friends or meet the person of your dreams. In just a few years, as a mass medium, the internet has helped change mating rituals.

We are confident you will enjoy using our service and hopefully you'll have some success.

Is it free, or is there a catch?

You can add your profile, voice profile and photo for FREE and search our database of singles for FREE. This level is called Standard Membership. Advertising and marketing for new members is our biggest expenditure and ultimately means we need to charge to finance this. We do this by charging members to communicate. We feel it's fair to charge our members if they wish to communicate, especially as we've helped them find a potential date FREE.

Membership Activation Help

to top

Why do I need to activate my membership?

Activating your membership is a security feature to ensure the email address you have registered belongs to you. Your activation email is sent to this address and you'll need to click on the link contained within it before you will be allowed to login to our website.

I haven't received my activation email. What can I do?

The most common problems normally involve your email address and not our system. Did you enter your correct email address? Is it a valid functioning email address? Is your inbox full?

If you suspect you have entered it incorrectly, please click here to tell us, providing the correct email address. We will investigate, change your email if necessary and resend your activation email.

Invalid, non-functioning email addresses often occur because your computer email account settings are incorrect (i.e. Outlook mail accounts). Check with your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or email provider that you have the correct POP3/SMTP mail server settings specified on your computer.

Another common problem, particularly with todays email programs like Outlook 2007, is that they try to identify spam or junk email. Then they either delete it or move it to a junk folder. Unfortunately due to the nature of our business and other companies bad practises, dating email is often classified as spam or junk e-mail. Please check your Junk E-mail folder or spam programs to see if your activation email has been delivered there. You may need to change some junk e-mail options to accept email from us. You may also like to check with your ISP (internet service provider) to see if their spam defence program is stopping our email.

A further common problem, particularly with email addresses from HOTMAIL, YAHOO and other similar free services, is that your inbox has reached its maximum capacity because it's being spammed or you haven't emptied it recently. Some of them disable your account if you do not check it regularly. Your inbox won't accept any more email if this is the case and anything sent to you is returned to the sender. Please check and delete all unwanted email to allow the delivery of new email.

Unfortunately, your Internet Service Provider's (ISP) mail server may not working at the time we sent your activation email. Normal service usually resumes quite quickly. In any case you'd receive all undelivered mail when it resumes. We'll attempt to resend over a 10 day period automatically which means you should eventually receive it.

Why should we allow you to use our service if the you haven't added any information about yourself which is useful or interesting to other members. Our system is designed to only allow entry to those members who've completed a minimum profile. A minimum profile includes the boxes which are highlighted. It shouldn't take you no more than a few minutes to complete.

Photo Help

to top

How do I add a photo to my profile?

Click here and follow the instructions for uploading photos.

Does my photo automatically show on my profile?

No. All newly uploaded photos must be checked, approved and resized if necessary by an administrator before they become publicly visible. Photos are usually checked within 48 hours of upload, but this may be longer at times of high demand, or at weekends when we've fewer administrators on duty.

Are there any specific requirements for adding photos

Yes. Your photo must either be in *.jpg, *.jpeg or *.gif format. Your photo must be no more than 150kB in file size and no more than 1024 pixels wide x 1024 pixels high. We will automatically resize it to 150 pixels wide and 180 pixels high if it is too large. This may mean that some of your photo will be cropped out. Please bear this in mind when choosing your photo. A good photo is a head and shoulders shot. Standard members can only add a single photo, whilst Essential members may add up to 10.

What happens if my photo is rejected?

We'll reject your photo if it doesn't comply with our technical requirements, is obscene, contains other people, is a picture of a celebrity, a cartoon or other copyrighted material. If your photo is rejected we'll automatically email you to inform you, stating the reason why your photo has been rejected. We'll normally invite you to try again.

Search Help

to top

How do I search?

For a quick and simple search, specify your criteria in a Basic Search. Paying members can use our more advanced search options such as an Advanced Search. Our advanced search allows you to specify virtually all criteria contained within a members profile. In addition it allows the use of keyword searching too.
Members can save their search criteria (a Saved Search) so searching the same next time is done by clicking one button.

How do I search for a specific member?

Easy! Using the Fast Find page. Enter the members unique membership ID and click "Find". A really handy way to find members with whom you have regular contact, is to add them to "My Favourites" section.

Why do I not get any search results?

You are most probably making your search criteria too narrow. Try relaxing your requirements a bit, e.g. a wider age range, etc. If you are looking for a blonde, blue eyed 21 year old, non-smoking female living in Outer Mongolia who wants children, chances are you will not get many results! If you still don't get any results it may be because there is no one who matches your criteria from your area. Don't despair, remember it's free to have you profile on our database. Our system will notify you when someone joins who matches your criteria. Just make sure you have "Match Alerts" set.

What is a match alert email?

If you've completed your profile correctly, you'll have specified "What you are looking for" in it. As well as informing other members about your requirements when they view your profile, our system will automatically email you when someone joins who matches the criteria you have set. To ensure you're alerted, make sure you have answered "YES" to receiving match emails. You can also set up our system to send you an SMS alert if you wish. Click here to go to your SMS settings

Online Messaging Help

to top

How do I contact another member?

When you view another member's profile you will see a "Send a Message" link. Click this link and then enter your message in the text box provided and then click "Send".

Will any of my details be exposed?

No! The message sent to the other member will only contain your first name, your location, your membership ID and your message. Please see our Privacy Policy for further details.

When I try to send a message, the system asks me to "Upgrade"?

You need to be an Essential member to read or send messages, for more information please see the section on "Upgrading and Online Payment Help".

Can I send a message without always going to that member's profile?

Yes, add them to Your Favourites by clicking the Add to Favourites link at the bottom of their profile. In the future simply click on their "envelope" icon on the side menu. In addition if you simply open a new message you will be able to select anyone in your Your Favourites list from a drop-down at the top of the message.

I've received a message but I can't read it? Why is that?

You need to be a paying member to read messages. You'll have noticed that you're able to see who the sender is, but not the message subject or it's contents. Viewing the sender's profile should give you enough information to decide whether to upgrade your membership to read the message. Click here to upgrade your membership

How long are my messages kept for before they are deleted?

Unlike some of our competitors who delete your messages after as little as 20 days, your messages are never deleted with us.

How do I reply to a message?

Go to "My Messages" and click on the "Reply" button in the message you've received. Remember, you need to be a paying member to send messages.

Why can I only send one message every 5 minutes?

Over the past 2 years we've unfortunately experienced members who've abused our service. Generally these are foreign members who send messages enticing our members into money scams. They use fraudulent/stolen credit cards to upgrade their membership. We've employed many measures to counteract them, one of which is the inability to send messages after messages. Our system will only allow one message to be sent every 5 minutes. This discourages abuse. We apologise that this may affect honest members but it also protects them too. In addition, we recommend you spend time compiling your messages in any case for maximum response.

Can I send any messages without being a paying member?

Yes! There is 3 standard messages that all members, regardless of level, can send. These are :-

Can my messages be retrieved once they've been deleted?

Yes! We can email you the contents of a deleted message. We will generally only do this in cases of accidental deletion. Please contact us in the event and we'll help as best we can.

Can my messages be retrieved once they have been sent?

Once you have sent a message to another member it can not be retrieved or recalled. This is because the member recieving the message will also have been sent an alert email informing them they have a new message, so they'll be expecting to find one.

Can I delete messages I haven't read?

No! Unread messages can't be deleted until they have been opened.

I was sent an e-mail advising me I had a message, but when I logged in, it had changed?

Typically you'll probably have noticed the message title says "Message removed by Customer Care - member banned". When a member is banned, any messages they've sent are automatically replaced with a standard Customer Care explaination message. This is another security feature we've built in to prevent abuse of the system by spammers and money scammers.

I no longer wish to receive email alerts when I receive a new message?

You can turn On or Off individual alerts if you wish by clicking Edit My Profile in the side menu. Locate the appropriate alert you wish to turn off and select "No" for example to "Alert me via email when I receive new messages" in this case.
You can turn them all Off or On by clicking on either of the links below. Obviously turning them all off means you won't be alerted to any activity regarding your profile.
Email Alerts - Turn Off   Turn On

How do I stop receiving messages from a specific member?

Simple! Click the "Ignore Member" button at the bottom of the members profile. This will prevent them from viewing you in their search results or sending you messages. You can check who you've added and add more or remove members from your list using the tools provided on your Ignore List page.
